~Sacks Volunteer Departments~
While the Donations and Clothes Hanging departments are in many ways the heart and soul of Sacks’ daily operations, we also have a great need for volunteer services throughout the store. You’ll have the option of training for and moving to a new assignment after you’ve completed twenty hours hanging clothes or sorting donations.
Some of the other assignments include, but aren’t limited to:
Computer Geek
This PC savvy individual oversees and manages all computer donations. Duties include evaluating the quality of the donations, testing and repairing equipment, and pricing. Other responsibilities involve implementing specific processing procedures for computers and educating staff on them, maintaining an orderly and inviting computer department within the Bozeman and Belgrade stores, and making decisions on the salability of particular items.
Floor Walkers/Keepers of Order (some might call it “Public Safety”)
This position is an integral part of thwarting shoplifters (yes, people actually steal from a non-profit organization) while at the same time maintaining a clean, pleasant shopping environment for our paying customers. Duties include walking the floors, straightening clothing (replacing items removed from rack and items from dressing rooms, making sure all clothes are hanging in the proper direction and are in the proper size/style section), and assisting customers with any questions or concerns that might arise.
Storage Organizer and Caretaker
Whether you want a crew to help you or you’d like to shoulder the burden yourself, our storage units are in need of some drastic reorganization—and beyond that, storage needs someone who cares enough to check on it once or twice a month to ensure things remain orderly. Stellar organization skills and the ability to lift heavy objects are a must.
Display Specialist (Belgrade Store)
Presentation is everything. Sacks of Belgrade needs an individual with an eye for style who can create displays that reflect the Sacks atmosphere and will wow a crowd. As we look to enhance the presentation of merchandise we will also be looking to maintain the highest standards of quality for our merchandise.
Seasonal Shelf-Stocker (It’s almost like being Santa)
The holidays are a festive yet hectic time at Sacks and we need all the help we can get keeping our shelves stocked and orderly. Housewares merchandise turnover is at its highest during the holiday season—the ideal volunteer will work closely and efficiently with the housewares supervisor, will have effective organizational skills allowing for maximum amounts of merchandise to hit the shelves, and will have patience and the ability to work with and around costumers.
Book Worm
If Lit’s your thing then this is the job for you. Not only will you help sort, price, and shelve donated books, but you’re sharp eye for rare and collector books will help ensure all items are sold for their maximum worth.
You Name It
Don’t see anything that really sparks your interest? Is there a particular service you’d like to offer the store or a particular job you think you’re extra qualified for? Tell us about it. It might just become our newest volunteer position! |
